Event Notes Note (1) Will of John Gleane In the name of God Amen I John Gleane of Sandcroft in the County of Suffolk, Gent, Doe make and . . . this my last will and testament hereby revoaking all former wills First I bequeath my . . . into the mercifull hands of Almighty God trusting and believing through the death and passion of my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ my Soule shall be saved Item I give and bequeath unto Leonard Gleane my eldest Sonne all those messuages lands tenements and hereditaments in the occupation of Robert Warde or his assignes situate lyeing and being in Hardwicke and Shelton in the County of Norff To have and to hold the said messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with all and singular their appurtenances unto my said sonne Leonard his heirs and assignes for ever Provided alwayes and upon condition that my said sonne Leonard his heires and assignes shall pay or cause to be paid unto Maude Gleane my daughter yearly and every yeare, for long as she shall continue unmarried the summe of Twenty pounds per annum upon the Feast dayes of St Michaell the Archangell and the Annunciation of our Lady St Mary the virgin att or in the Porch of the parish Church of Hardwicke aforesaid And if she shall marry then I will that my said sonne Leonard his heires and assignes shall pay unto her the said Maude the summe of three hundred pounds of lawfull english money within fourteene dayes next after her marriage att the place of payment aforesaid And alsoe I will that my said sonne Leonard his heires or assignes shall pay unto Robert and William my sonnes the summe of sixteene pounds apeece per Annum untill they and either of them shall accomplish their severall ages of twenty and foure years at the dayes and place of payment aforesaid And when they or either of them shall accomplish their age or ages of twenty and foure years then I will that my said sonne Leonard shall pay unto them and either of them two hundred pounds apeece as they shall severally attain to the age of twenty and foure years at the place of paymeny aforesaid And if default in payment of any my guifts and legacies shalbe made then I will that my said daughter and younger sonnes unto whom any such default shalbe made shall and may enter into any of my said messuages lands tenements and hereditaments and into every or any part thereof And have hold occupy possess and enjoy the same And alsoe to take distress and distresses upon the premisses and sell and dispose thereof untill shee and they and every of them be fully satisfied and paid the severall summes of money above mentioned together with their costs and charges And I ordaine and make my said sonne Leonard sole executor of this my last will And my worthy kinsman Peter Glean Esquire and my loveing brother John Lynnett gent supervisors And I give them twenty shillings apeece to buy each of them a Deaths head Ring And further my meaning and will is that my said daughter may dispose of two hundred pounds parcell of the said three hundred (In case she shall dye unmarried) And that my said messuages and lands shalbe chargeable therewith And that my said sonne Leonard his heires or assignes shall pay the same according to her will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale Dated the second day of August in the yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigh Lord King Charles the Second the sixteenth 1664.
